How laser hair removal works

The laser emits light energy, which is absorbed by the pigment in the hair and converted into heat. This heat reaches the hair root and damages the structures from which the hair regrows. It is crucial that the hair is in its growth phase, because only then is it connected to the root.

Because only some of your hairs are growing at any one time, several sessions are needed. For most areas, we plan 6 to 8 treatments about 4 to 8 weeks apart. The intervals are shorter on the face and longer on the legs and back.

What the laser can’t do

This is part of honest advice too: white, grey and very light blonde hair contains hardly any pigment, and no laser can reliably remove it. With reddish hair, the result is often limited. We will tell you whether treatment is worthwhile for you during the free consultation, before you spend any money.

How your treatment in Düsseldorf works

1. Book an appointment: choose the Düsseldorf location and an available slot in our booking form, or give us a call.
2. Consultation and free trial treatment: we look at your skin and hair, ask about medication and pre-existing conditions, and treat a small test area.
3. Preparation at home: shave 1 to 2 days beforehand, and do not wax, epilate or pluck for at least 4 weeks beforehand. No sunbeds and no strong sun on the treatment area.
4. The session: depending on the area, a few minutes to about 2 hours. Afterwards, you can carry on with your day.
5. Aftercare and follow-up appointments: slight redness usually fades within a few hours. Avoid saunas and intensive exercise for 1 to 2 days and use sun protection consistently. The treated hairs fall out over the following one to three weeks.
