Laser hair removal cost: what you will really pay

“How much does laser hair removal cost?” is the question we hear most often in our studios in Cologne and Düsseldorf. The honest answer: it depends mainly on two things – the price per session and the number of sessions. In this guide we show you our actual prices, work through typical total costs and explain what to look out for when comparing offers.
In short: At Ice Laser, a treatment costs, for example, €25 (upper lip), €40 (underarms), €45 (bikini) or €150 (full legs, women). For long-lasting results, 6 to 8 sessions are usually needed. That puts the total cost for the underarms at around €240 to €320, and for full legs at around €900 to €1,200. The consultation and trial treatment are free.
What the cost depends on
- Size of the area: The larger the area, the longer the treatment and the higher the price per session. The upper lip and underarms take just a few minutes, while legs or back take considerably longer.
- Number of sessions: The laser only works on hairs in the growth phase. Because only some of the hairs are growing at any one time, several appointments are needed – usually 6 to 8.
- Hair and skin type: Dark, coarse hair responds fastest. Fine or lighter hair often needs more sessions.
- Hormones: On hormonally influenced areas such as the chin and upper lip (especially in women), hair growth can be more stubborn. Here, more sessions and an occasional top-up later on are realistic.
- Device and experience: A modern system such as the Soprano Titanium and trained staff cost more than a basic IPL device – but they also deliver more reliable results and fewer risks.

Packages: several areas in one session
If you are having several areas treated, our packages save you a lot. An example for women: underarms, intimate area, bikini and inner buttocks cost €215 together when booked individually – as a package, it is €120 per session. For men, there is, for example, back, shoulders and tailbone for €170 instead of €220.
What does it cost in total? Example calculations
For realistic planning, multiply the price per session by the number of sessions. The following ranges assume 6 to 8 sessions – for the face and chin we tend to expect 8 to 10.
| Area | Sessions | Total cost (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Underarms (women) | 6–8 | €240–320 |
| Bikini (women) | 6–8 | €270–360 |
| Upper lip (women) | 8–10 | €200–250 |
| Full legs (women) | 6–8 | €900–1,200 |
| Package: underarms, intimate area, bikini, inner buttocks | 6–8 | €720–960 |
| Full back (men) | 6–8 | €720–960 |
We can only give you a reliable estimate of how many sessions you will actually need after the consultation. Some clients are happy after six appointments; for others, individual areas are not quite clear even after eight sessions. We will tell you honestly beforehand.
Is it worth it compared with shaving and waxing?
It is best to work it out with your own figures. An example: let us say you have your underarms waxed every five weeks for €20. That is a good ten appointments a year, so around €200 annually – year after year. Laser treatment of the underarms costs around €240 to €320 at our studios as a one-off. After about a year and a half, the laser therefore works out cheaper, and after that the ongoing costs largely disappear.
Then there is what is hard to put in euros: fewer razors and wax strips, less razor burn and fewer ingrown hairs, and less planning of appointments before you go on holiday.
How to recognise a fair offer
- Price per session instead of blanket promises: Be wary of offers such as “full body for life at a fixed price”. Honest studios tell you what a session costs and how many you are likely to need.
- No large upfront payment: If you are asked to pay for the entire course in advance, you carry the risk if the treatment does not suit you.
- Free trial treatment: This lets you see beforehand how your skin reacts and what the treatment feels like.
- Laser or IPL? Many very cheap offers use IPL (flash lamp) instead of a laser. IPL can work, but often needs more sessions and is less suitable for dark skin. Ask which device will be used.
- Honest advice on hair colour and skin type: White, grey and very light blonde hair cannot be reliably removed with any laser. Anyone who promises you otherwise is mainly trying to make a sale.
What home devices cost – and what they can do
IPL devices for home use usually cost a few hundred euros and can reduce hair growth. However, they work with much less energy than a professional laser, are not suitable for all skin types and require a great deal of discipline over months. For small areas and fair skin with dark hair, that may be enough; if you want reliable, long-lasting results on larger areas, professional treatment is usually the better choice.
Will health insurance cover the cost?
As a rule, no – hair removal is considered a cosmetic service. Only in cases of medically diagnosed excessive hair growth (for example, pronounced hirsutism) may cover through a doctor’s practice be possible in individual cases. Health insurers do not cover treatments at a beauty studio.
Frequently asked questions about cost
How much does laser hair removal on the underarms cost?
At our studios, €40 per treatment for women and €45 for men. With 6 to 8 sessions, that comes to around €240 to €360 in total.
How much does full-body laser treatment cost?
That depends on which areas you mean by “full body”. Our largest package for women (underarms, arms, bikini, intimate area, inner buttocks, legs and face) costs €350 per session, and the largest package for men €490. Find out more on our page about full-body hair removal.
Do I have to pay for all sessions in advance?
No. You pay for each treatment individually after the appointment.
Is the first treatment free?
The consultation and a trial treatment on a small area are free. Afterwards, you can take your time to decide whether you would like to start the treatment.
Why are some studios much cheaper?
Often they use IPL instead of a laser, or the low price only applies to the first session or only if you pay for a large package in advance. So always compare the price per session, the device used and the likely number of sessions.
